Since its founding in 1944, the Freiburg Bach Choir has been deeply rooted in Freiburg's
citizenry, firmly establishing itself in the city's musical life and, in the process, gaining a
reputation that extends far beyond the city's borders.
Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio, probably the master's most popular vocal work
, will be performed. The individual parts of the piece were first performed in the
six services between Christmas Day 1734 and
Epiphany 1735 in the Nikolaikirche and Thomaskirche in Leipzig. Today
they sound together in the festive ambience of the Freiburg Konzerthaus.
