Calligraphy course: Writing with the pointed pen

This course teaches the Antiqua, which was once used for book printing, is easy to read and is still used almost unchanged today. We will first practise the forms with the fineliner, then continue with the pencil. The build-up and reduction of pressure is an essential element here and not an easy one. Finally, the whole thing will be practiced with the pointed nib - the most difficult exercise of this course, as here you also have to pay attention to nib position and filling the nib. Using "snippets", we will play with words, take away and add and conjure up our own lyrical text, which we will then design using the typeface we have learned The materials list can be found HERE. The costs for layout and miscellaneous, 5€, will be settled on site with the course instructor.

Course instructor: Gramsch, Birgit. Birgit Gramsch is a freelance calligrapher with a studio for classical and experimental calligraphy, commissioned work and courses. Since 2016, she has been traveling all over Germany to attend courses with renowned calligraphers. More at Instagram birgitgramsch and www.atelierschriftbild.de
