In the last 50 years, the Catholic Church has made three attempts to come to terms with its history - with Galileo, the persecution of the Jews, and the sexual abuse of the protected thousands of times. Political scientist David Ranan analyzes these cases and, together with Prof. Dr. Magnus Striet (Professor of Fundamental Theology at the University of Freiburg and Chairman of the GE Commission for Coming to Terms with Sexual Abuse in the Archdiocese of Freiburg), discusses the question: Is the Church at all capable of taking responsibility for its deeds and failures?
