Montreal-born pianist Janina Fialkowskahas been delightingaudiences around the world for fifty years and has been described as one of the "grandes dames of piano playing" in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Critics have praised her above all for her musical integrity, her refreshing naturalness and her unique piano sound. "La Presse" (Montreal) describes her as an "artist of rare, exquisite quality who has retained the virtuosity of her youth."

She has performed with the world's leading orchestras under conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel, Sir Georg Solti and Sir Roger Norrington, as well as with conductors of the younger generation such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Klaus Mäkelä. Canada honored her with the country's highest civilian awards, the "Order of Canada" and the "Goveneror General's Award" for her life's work, as well as three honorary doctorates from renowned Canadian universities. After a health-related break of almost two years, the artist returned to the international concert stage in 2004. After one of her comeback concerts in London, the London Evening Standard advised: "Cancel all dates if you have a chance to hear her".

Her numerous CD productions released since then have received rave reviews from critics around the world and have been showered with international awards. In Germany, for example, Joachim Kaiser praised the CD "Chopin Recital" as "an unusual testimony to perfect pianistic artistry". Janina Fialkowska passes on her knowledge in master classes and at her own "International Piano Academy" in Marktoberdorf, Bavaria, and is a welcome juror at international piano competitions.

Highlights of her career in the recent past have been concerts at the Ruhr Piano Festival (in Dortmund and Düsseldorf), the Berlin Piano Festival at the Konzerthaus (concert hall) in Berlin and the Piano Spring in Deutschlandsberg in Styria. She has also performed in England, Northern Ireland, Wales, Croatia and regularly returns to her native Canada and concerts in the United States. The 24/25 season begins with a piano recital in London (Cadogan Hall). She has also been invited to give a concert and a master class in Tbilisi (Georgia) and to give concerts in the USA. A major tour of Canada will follow in the spring (concerts in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver, among others).

Her much-praised autobiography "A Note in Time" was published in October 2021 (Novum Publishing, London).
