Climate. A history of perception
Thursday, 12/12/2024 / 07:30 PM / Catholic Academy of the Archdiocese of Freiburg
Free entry
In the series "On Life in the Anthropocene", the Viennese cultural and literary scholar Eva Horn will be a guest at the Catholic Academy Freiburg, Wintererstrasse 1, on Thursday, December 12 at 7.30 p.m. In her recently published book, Eva Horn examines the close connections between cultures and their climate. Drawing on the history of medicine, philosophy, art and literature, Eva Horn creates a great imaginative history of the climate that can provide a new basis for the debate on the climate crisis and train our atmospheric sensorium.
She already set a milestone in the public debate with her book "Future as Catastrophe" (2014). Her work "Anthropocene for Introduction" (2019) is considered an indispensable basis for the discourse on the Anthropocene, to which the events in the series also aim to contribute.
Following the lecture, Eva Horn will discuss the topic with Freiburg sociologist Ulrich Bröckling.
The event in the series "On Life in the Anthropocene" is organized in cooperation with the Günther Anders Research Centre, the Studium generale of the University campus Freiburg and Theater Freiburg.
The event can also be followed via livestream at www.katholische-akademie-freiburg.de.
Admission is free of charge.
