Climate social policy - talk in the series "On life in the Anthropocene"
Thursday, 04/12/2025 / 08:15 PM / University of Freiburg, KG I, Lecture Hall 1010
Free entry
On Thursday, December 4, at 8.15 pm, Eva Maria Welskop-Deffaa, President of the German Caritas Association, and Ulrich Becker, social law expert at the LMU Munich, will discuss key issues of climate social policy. The event will take place at the University campus Freiburg (HS 1010) and will be streamed live.
While debates on socio-ecological transformation have so far focused primarily on ecological aspects, examples such as the yellow vest protests in France or the discussion about the heating law make it clear how important it is to consider social consequences and issues of justice. Measures to meet the Paris climate targets will require far-reaching changes - making it all the more urgent to redefine the goals of the welfare state under the conditions of the climate crisis.
The event is part of the series "On Life in the Anthropocene" of the Catholic Academy Freiburg in cooperation with the Günther Anders Research Center, the Studium generale of the University campus Freiburg and Theater Freiburg.
Free admission, free choice of seats. Further information and livestream: www.katholische-akademie-freiburg.de
