Concert: The Black Forest Meets the Amazon

Free entry

Indigenous music with As Karuana invites you to dance and relax.

Farm festival at Vogelhof starting at 5 p.m., concert at 7 p.m., dancing at 9 p.m.

The As Karuana collective advocates for global justice. They’re coming to Freiburg in July 2026 with answers to the big climate questions.

The workshops will be led and accompanied by the political women’s choir As Karuana from the Amazon. As Karuana is a group

indigenous artists and activists who successfully lead their nonviolent struggle in the Amazon and worldwide for the preservation of the forest, the protection of rivers and

indigenous territories, for climate justice, and for a good life for all people. They use their art, music, rhythms, their millennia-old indigenous knowledge,

and their great collective power to provide sustainable answers to global challenges and demonstrate how nonviolent resistance succeeds. The workshops motivate and support people to actively work toward a better life

for everyone, and they foster exchange, shared learning, and global activism on an equal footing.

Their powerful music at concerts invites people to dance, hope, and engage in social and environmental activism.

In 2025, As Karuana actively participated in the World Climate Summit and the Peoples’ Summit in Belém. In 2027, they took part in the large, successful protests on the Rio Tapajós against the privatization of the rivers.

Their goal is to be “heard” and, as Indigenous people, to participate in global political affairs. They offer solutions for a better world and a good life for all.
