War and peace in the music of the 20th century (music lecture)

The unexpected return of war in all its brutality has left us shaken and perplexed. This lecture with pictures and sound examples aims to show how composers of the 20th century have tried to use the language of music to respond to the reality of war and the hope for peace. The lecture has three parts: The first part is about perpetrators - the behavior of perpetrators and the behavior towards perpetrators. The second part focuses on suffering and destruction.
