La Cage aux Folles

Georges and Albin have been a queer couple for many years. Together they run the nightclub "La Cage aux Folles" in Saint-Tropez. Albin is the star here as drag queen Zaza. Georges has a son called Jean-Michel, whom Albin has raised like a mother. They are a happy rainbow family. When Jean-Michel gets engaged to Anne, things get complicated: Anne is the daughter of conservative politician Édouard Dindon. He wants to close all the clubs in Saint-Tropez. Georges and Albin are faced with an important question: should they hide who they really are? The 1983 musical La Cage aux Folles is a classic. This play full of glitter, music, humor and heart is about how self-confident you can be as a queer person. Then as now, there are people who don't like to see this. But even Édouard Dindon and his family learn in the end that freedom does not diminish when you share it. Director Maurice Lenhard and his team show that there is a right to visibility for everyone. And they invite us to experience the magic of a great drag show.
