Solutions to the organ shortage? Xenotransplantation and other alternatives

As part of the #FreiburgEntscheidetSich campaign, a panel discussion on the topic of organ transplantation will take place on Wednesday, September 25 at 7 pm at the Katholische Akademie Freiburg, Wintererstr. 1. The panel discussion with moral theologian Jochen Sautermeister from the University of Bonn and Yakup Tanriver from the Institute for Medical Microbiology and Hygiene at the University campus Freiburg will discuss solutions to the problem of organ shortages: Can procedures such as xenotransplantation, i.e. the transfer of animal organs to humans, solve the immense shortage problem in the future? These new methods raise medically and ethically relevant questions that require intensive reflection.
