Lunch & Learn: Quo vadis, small PV? Live broadcast of an online event on small rooftop PV systems
Monday, 09/03/2026 / 11:00 AM - 01:00 PM / EWS Store
Free entry
On behalf of Elektrizitätswerke Schönau, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE has investigated the economic viability and prospects of small rooftop PV systems. The results will be presented online.
The online event will be broadcast live in the EWS store in Freiburg, where there will be an opportunity to follow it together with other interested parties and then discuss the study with a Fraunhofer ISE employee and Michael Iovu, EWS Public Affairs Manager, over a lunchtime snack.
Admission is free of charge. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
What you can expect:
Small PV systems up to 30 kilowatts peak (kWp) represent a central element of the German energy transition, accounting for over a third of the PV capacity installed nationwide. However, this growth engine is in danger of being stifled. The "10-point plan" of the Federal Ministry of Economics envisages abolishing the fixed feed-in tariff for new systems and replacing it with mandatory direct marketing. Elektrizitätswerke Schönau commissioned the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE to investigate what this means in concrete terms.
In the first part of the event, co-author Verena Fluri (Fraunhofer ISE) will present the results of the study. In the second part, we will then discuss together with experts from politics, business and administration what concrete steps are now needed to further boost the expansion of renewables locally and at the same time make it more system-friendly, economically and socially balanced.
