Her intense and profound interpretation is a rare and valuable experience for the viewer and has made Maria Mazzotta one of the most appreciated voices in the European world music scene. Her natural range spans from the sounds of Southern Italy to the cadences of the Balkans: Mazzotta's repertoire is the result of meticulous research and a great respect for the different cultures that compose it, with particular attention to the vocal characteristics of each musical tradition.
In 2024, she will present a new live project with a trio line-up: she will be joined on stage by guitarist Ernesto Nobili and percussionist Cristiano Della Monica, two electrifying personalities with whom she has recorded a new album that will be released in January 24.
The electric sounds of post-rock meet the lively interpretation of Maria Mazzotta in an original and profound combination.
The search for this sound has its roots in the past, stemming from youthful listening and passion for a musical genre that the Apulian singer thought for years could not be part of her record production.
Since January 2020, the year she made her solo debut with the release of the album "Amoreamaro", she has not stopped and has broken thousands of records. She has never stopped and has traveled many kilometers to perform at over 150 concerts in more than 25 countries. The new show is the result of all these journeys, encounters and influences, emotions and reflections on modern society.
For the first time in her 20-year career, Maria Mazzotta chooses to express the vital and unabashed power of the rural tradition through contemporary, suburban instruments.
The awareness of courage and freedom to reach the true expression of living popular music of a woman who travels back and forth between the great European capitals such as Paris and Barcelona and the great metropolises of the world such as Jakarta and Bogota, accompanied by her own weaknesses as well as her own strengths. The new sound, imbued with the expressive power of the electric guitar and the diverse percussion of Cristiano Della Monica, is at once cosmopolitan but deeply and firmly rooted in southern Italian tradition.
The new album also features several tributes to important personalities on the artistic path of the singer from Salento: with 'Terra ca nun senti' to Rosa Balistreri, a pillar of Italian popular culture, who for Mazzotta is an example of virtue, courage and strength both on stage and in her private life. With 'Marinaresca', a tribute to the great maestro Roberto De Simone and his fundamental musical research, which brought traditional music closer to the general public.
