Like many strongly religious personalities, Hermann Hesse represents a normative image of man: true humanity only comes into being through the realization of certain spiritual, moral, and above all religious principles. The speaker, an internationally renowned Hesse scholar, will explain this conception of man primarily on the basis of Hesse's letters and show how it is reflected in his stories from "Demian" to the "Glass Bead Game". Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity for discussion.
