MUNDOLOGIA: Out for good

35 years around the world

"Gangerl" is a legend among globetrotters and a guarantee for countless adventurous stories. He has traveled to 127 countries, covered over 120,000 nautical miles in his wake and around 180,000 kilometers with his backpack. He has met chiefs, pirates and kings - and almost died a few times. At the 21st MUNDOLOGIA Festival, he talks about his adventurous life.

He is an extreme maverick, a border crosser. Wolfgang "Gangerl" Clemens is 82 years old and only takes things a little easier today than he did 35 years ago. That's because he escaped life on the hamster wheel with a self-built sailing yacht. Despite many obstacles - pirate attacks, illnesses, capsizing and financial hardship - he has taken his life into his own hands with stoic self-drive as an adventurer and explorer in search of the last paradises on earth.
