Nuclear threat situation in the southern German region -

While Germany phased out nuclear energy a year ago, the planned lifetimes of Swiss nuclear power plants are being extended to 50, 60 or 80 years. To this end, limit values are being watered down and the risks of overtime operation are being played down. The lifting of the ban on new construction is also being discussed.

The tri-national nuclear protection association TRAS, whose members include the city of Freiburg, would like to counter this. Experts from Germany and Switzerland will present their assessment of the risk situation at the event (conference center on the ground floor, Schauinsland room).

There are also plans to set up a new network of German municipalities that will join forces to counter the trivializations from Switzerland with the aim of limiting and decommissioning the old nuclear power plants.
