Ole Könnecke: Bedtime stories for Celeste - 38th Freiburg Literature Talk: Wild Friday to scare and amaze (from 6 years)
Friday, 08/11/2024 / 03:00 PM / House of Literature Freiburg
Welcome: Birgit Güde, Junges Literaturhaus Freiburg
Tonight Boris and Celeste are home alone, their parents are going to the neighbors. Boris is thrilled: finally chips and cookies for supper! Celeste really wants to hear a bedtime story, and a really scary one at that. Nothing better than that ... Boris tells stories about terrible ghosts, dangerous giant toads and many-headed monsters - but Celeste isn't the least bit scared! And finally comes up with a story of her own to scare Boris.
"Bedtime Stories for Celeste" (Hanser, 2024) comes from the pens of the great picture book artists Nikolaus Heidelbach and Ole Könnecke, who couldn't draw more differently: Reduced comic wit meets disturbingly lifelike fantasy creatures. Accompanied by eerily beautiful music, Ole Könneke presents this original joint project.
