Bernhard Brand-Hofmeister at the Welte organ in the Adelhauser church #Museumsnacht
Saturday, 22/07/2023 / 06:30 PM / Adelhauser church
In the concerts with light installations during the museum night, Bernhard Brand-Hofmeister will play themes from "Back to the Future", "Indiana Jones" but also pieces by Queen and Deep Purple on the Welte organ.
Bernhard Brand-Hofmeister born in Darmstadt in 1983, has been the full-time church musician of the Lutheran Johannes Church in Darmstadt since 2011. In addition to his concert activities, he has also made several contributions to radio and television (e.g. ZDF, HR, NDR, SWR) as well as CD recordings. He also campaigned for the restoration of the world's largest historic organs by Heinrich Andreas Contius in 1779 and Barnim Grüneberg in 1885 in Liepaja (Latvia) with two CD productions. As a silent film organist, he regularly scores films in cooperation with the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Foundation and aberle media.
The historic Welte organ in the Adelhauser church was built in 1930. The Freiburg organ building company "M. Welte und Söhne", which achieved international renown and fame with the production of mechanical musical instruments, installed the current organ in the case of the former Fischer organ from 1746. A restoration of the Welte organ will take place in 2016/2017 by the organ building company "Waldkircher Orgelbau - Jäger & Brommer". The pneumatic console and the technical system were extensively renovated. In elaborate manual work, all 788 pipes were checked, cleaned, repaired and partially reconstructed. Through sensitive re-intonation, the original sound of the organ was restored.
Admission to the concerts is free. In each case, donations are requested for the benefit of projects of the Poor Fund of the Orphanage Foundation.
