Paradeis and Christmas play at the Waldorf School in Rieselfeld

Free entry

In the more than one hundred years of its existence, the Waldorf movement has developed a rich tradition in terms of teaching and the life of the school communities. Elements that were present from the very beginning are mixed with others that developed later and combine to form a public image of the schools. All traditions must always be questioned against the background of the times and the current situation of the children and the school.

The Oberufer Christmas plays are part of this tradition. Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Waldorf education, became acquainted with them through his teacher Karl Julius Schröer and encouraged the staff of the first Waldorf school to work on them. For a long time, the games were used at all Waldorf schools, but this is no longer the case. Here in Rieselfeld, the dates for performances of the Paradeis and Christ's Birth Plays are included in the annual schedule, but it is decided at short notice whether the production can be staged at this time of year, which is prone to colds. This year there will be a public performance of both plays on December 18 at 6 pm (Paradeisspiel) and 7 pm (Christgeburtspiel).

We cordially invite you to the ballroom of our school!
