In 2025, the human voice has been named instrument of the year - and this is the focus of the "Philipp Mathmann High Counter" concert. Camerata Vocale Freiburg presents a unique baroque program with the renowned countertenor Philipp Mathmann and the ensemble CommuSicare, which explores the magic and mystery of the countertenor voice.

Philipp Mathmann, the young and internationally established countertenor who recently toured with Cecilia Bartoli and John Malkovich, has produced the Bach cantata "Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut" BWV 199 in a secularized text version by Florian Goldberg with a dance performance for television in 2024. In April 2025, Mathmann will now perform the original version of this cantata together with the Camerata Vocale Freiburg and the Frankfurt baroque ensemble CommuSicare under the direction of Winfried Toll. Together with the "Credo" by Antonio Lotti, the Bach cantatas BWV 150 "Nach Dir verlanget mich" and "Ich rufe zu Dir" BWV 639 and the first aria from Antonio Vivaldi's motet "Nulla in mundo pax sincera", the result is a multifaceted baroque listening experience that explores the mystery of the countertenor and the harmonious connection between instruments and the human voice - an ideal to which the CommuSicare ensemble has dedicated itself.
