Pina Kühr: A child is a whole life - Freiburger Andruck, Moderation: René Zipperlen

When Mathilda's newborn son dies 34 days after birth, she loses trust and confidence in the world. The mantra of grieving parents seems to be "the only thing we have to do is go on living". But for Mathilda, moving on only takes place on the surface: She returns to everyday life, to the stage, speaks unfamiliar texts, wears unfamiliar faces - and loses herself in them. Only writing about her son and the failure of her relationship lead her back to herself and back to life.

In her debut novel "Ein Kind ist ein ganzes Leben" (March, 2025), Freiburg author and actress Pina Kühr quietly and fearlessly tells the story of a woman who almost drowns in her grief - and slowly, tentatively, finds new ground. She talks to René Zipperlen (Badische Zeitung) about her impressive debut novel.
