Planetary aspects of urban health

Free entry

Environmental, climate and social factors are having an increasing impact on human and animal health. The risks are particularly evident in growing cities: epidemics, heat stress, burnout, violence and chronic diseases are just some of the challenges.

Against this backdrop, the international symposium "Planetary Aspects of Urban Health" is being held at the University campus Freiburg. It celebrates three occasions at once: the tenth cohort of the Global Urban Health Master's degree program and the renaming of the research center at the University campus Freiburg as the "Centre for Planetary Health" as well as the center's new status as a UN-Habitat Cooperation Center. The aim is to network researchers, alumni and students, exchange experiences and sharpen the focus on key issues of planetary health. Interdisciplinary contributions from lecturers from all over the world will shed light on the challenges of urban life, the impact of climate change and the spread of diseases - with a particular focus on disadvantaged population groups in the Global South. The event will be opened by Rector Prof. Dr. Kerstin Krieglstein.

Admission is free of charge.

The event will be held in English.
