Punch yourself something! Tufting by hand with the punch needle

The punch needle - the forerunner of the electronic tufting gun - has been experiencing a revival in the maker scene for a few years now. No wonder, because embroidery tufting with a hollow needle offers two huge advantages: It's easy to learn and you get great results immediately and quickly.

In addition, the technique allows a creative approach similar to drawing or painting, which makes it possible to create completely individual pictures and designs. The punch needle replaces drawing pencils and brushes. Lines and areas are created by lining up different stitches on a loosely woven background fabric. The use of colored yarns creates textile works of art and accessories with unusual surface structures and designs.

And this is how it works:

In this workshop, you will learn all the basics of the technique and can try out needles and yarns. I will show you everything you need to know, starting with the design, choosing the materials and preparing the frame, right through to the actual implementation with the needle. I will be on hand to help and advise you with the design and will also be happy to provide you with templates. At the end, you will take home a finished work in 30x30 cm format that you can hang up straight away!

If you have sewing experience, I can also give you tips and tricks for further processing as cushions, accessories or for pimping jackets!

Who is it suitable for?

The workshop is suitable for absolute beginners as well as for those who already have some experience and would like to deepen their knowledge.

What is included?

All materials, such as high-quality needles, wool yarns, frames and fabrics are provided. On weekdays + Saturdays until 5 p.m. you can also enjoy delicious coffee specialties at "Jahbro" - our café in Layback!
