Quasthoff, Oslender & Ilg | Jazzfestival Freiburg

Thomas Quasthoff, one of the most important singers of his generation, has set standards with his versatile bass-baritone in opera arias and lieder. Having fallen for jazz at a young age, the incomparable bass-baritone bard now interprets songs from the colorful palette of popular and unpopular jazz styles: intense, full of relish and passionate.

Simon Oslender, on piano and keyboards, is often described as a "rising star". But the description "groove monster" is more accurate. He became known through his work in the Wolfgang Haffner Trio and with Steve Gadd. Whether with the WDR Big Band, Gregory Porter or Bill Evans - here is part of the future at work.

Dieter ILG - "the one who dances with the bass" - is best known for his creative trio projects. His duos with Charlie Mariano and Till Brönner are highly regarded. His project "motherland" is touching: independent, charming. Singers such as Rebekka Bakken, Dhafer Youssef, Nils Landgren and Thomas Quasthoff "can tell you a thing or two about it".
