"Gender parity" is the fifth of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. UN Women, which is also responsible for the "He For She" project, says: "Because the empowerment and participation of women and girls [FLINTA*] has a leverage effect on economic growth and development and is therefore not only a question of justice, but also indispensable in economic and social terms".
According to the "Global Gender Gap Index", Germany has deteriorated to 9th place in the current year 2025 (2024: 7th place). Equality is predicted to be achieved worldwide on average by 2148, although the figures are very divergent: While some countries in Northern Europe seem to be well on their way, other patriarchal countries may still be centuries away from this goal.
But how can we accelerate a positive development? And should equality be a feminist concept alone or a goal for society as a whole? We want to discuss this in a round table discussion this evening.
