Dear Minister

In her new novel "Sehr geehrte Frau Ministerin", book prize winner ("Landgericht", 2012) Ursula Krechel tells the story of three women in antiquity and the present day whose lives are shaped by the violence they have suffered and experienced. With outstanding style, Krechel writes a cultural history of all women - from the Roman emperor's mother Agrippina to student councilor Silke Aschauer, from Eva Patarak, a saleswoman in a small herbal empire, to the Minister of Justice. It is the story of their resistance to the physical and psychological violence inflicted on them.
