Throughout our lives, we humans are in search of balance and confidence, a certain peace of mind in the face of recurring challenges. Wise sayings on calendars, postcards or in song lyrics may succinctly remind us how we can achieve and maintain the state we are striving for. The pillars are often patience, a clear conscience through honest behavior, gratitude and the cultivation of friendships. This topic was already on people's minds 300 years ago. So did the composer Philipp Heinrich Erlebach (1657 - 1714), who left behind a collection of 50 arias containing such wisdom. These "Harmonious Joys of Musical Friends (Part I)" are the central content of our program. These words of wisdom are framed by suitable arias by baroque contemporaries, which invite the soul to contemplate and be cheerful after the work is done. Embedded in the program are instrumental works that provide space for content to resonate and emotions to unfold wordlessly. The Videamus ensemble was founded in early 2023 out of a desire to share the common joy of early music. Some of the members have known each other for a long time: they have studied together, sung in a choir, gone on vacation together, have mutual friends and have also been on music camps together. Marie-Christine Köberlein (soprano), Mirjam Schuhmacher and Sebastian Friedrich (recorder), Luisa Waidner (viola da gamba), Jakob Schall (violoncello) and Valentin Knichelmann (harpsichord and organ) make music partly as a profession and partly in their free time, but all with the same motto: We are happy!
