Stefanie Höfler: Until the rain catches fire - youth book reading, moderated by young people (from 13 years)
Friday, 24/04/2026 / 06:00 PM / House of Literature Freiburg
First her brother disappears, then the mysterious Sol appears in her life and upsets everything. It is the moment when sixteen-year-old Toni questions everything, including the system of surveillance in which she lives. She switches off her sensor, disconnects and flees into the forest, where it is raining in a strange way despite the drought. What begins as a small escape turns into a breathtaking search for the secret of the "rain children", during which she discovers an unheard-of truth.
Stefanie Höfler's "Bis der Regen Feuer fängt" (Beltz, 2026) is a stirring novel about a girl who burns with curiosity. And finally knows what is worth fighting for. The award-winning author talks about her work and her favorite books of the future with young people from the Lit Lab.
