Program

In 1724, 300 years ago, François Couperin published his Concerts Les Goûts-réünis, in which he sought to synthesize the Italian and French styles. His representatives and role models were Arcangelo Corelli and Jean-Baptiste Lully. He paid tribute to both of them with a musical apotheosis depicting their admission to Parnassus and their encounter there. The chronicler Évrard Titon du Tillet attested to Couperin during his lifetime that he too deserved a special place in Parnassus.
In this sense, the study conference is also a tribute to the important composer François Couperin. 85 years after Eta-Harich Schneider's book, a German-language biography will be published for the first time in 2024. This will give rise to an exchange between researchers and performers from Switzerland, France and Germany. In academic lectures, practical workshops and concerts, science and performance practice will enter into dialog. Renowned representatives will be invited for this purpose. The conference will take place over two days in Freiburg and Basel and is being organized in cooperation between the College of Music Freiburg and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (FHNW).
