Open House for the Expansion of the Diakonie Hospital in Freiburg

The Diakoniekrankenhaus Freiburg cordially invites all citizens to an open house on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., to showcase the hospital’s new expansion. A day of activities for the whole family is planned.

With the completion of the largest expansion project in its 125-year history, the new wing of the Diakoniekrankenhaus will be presented to the public for the first time on July 11. In recent years, a healthcare campus has emerged in Landwasser where medical, nursing, and therapeutic staff from various facilities collaborate at a high level. The Diakoniekrankenhaus expansion wing now provides space for a new café, a new central emergency room (ZNA), a state-of-the-art delivery suite, two comfortable inpatient wards, new facilities for the parenting classes, and a large event hall.

The open house on July 11 is set to be a special event for the Landwasser neighborhood: With activities for all ages, a special day of events is planned for the whole family: a scavenger hunt through the new building, activities for children—including face painting, a bounce house, and much more—the grand opening of our new café, “carpe diak,” hands-on medical experiences, a behind-the-scenes tour, expert presentations, information on our range of services, a tour of our air-conditioned expansion wing with its beautiful new delivery suite area, central emergency room, parenting class rooms, modern comfort wards, and new event space—including a rooftop terrace—along with a diverse selection of food and beverages.

The day is intended not only to provide information but also to create opportunities for people to meet and interact.
