Tango with a pinch of baroque

Book tickets

"There is a musician at work who is in love with every note she plays" - wrote the Basler Zeitung about Julia Schröder, the Freiburg professor and concertmaster of the Basel Chamber Orchestra. Her musical versatility, her captivating manner and the great ease with which she plays the violin have also inspired the Argentinian composer and bandoneon soloist Marcelo Nisinman. And so, together with his long-standing chamber music partner, solo double bassist Winfried Holzenkamp, the musicians have come together as a trio.

The ensemble's repertoire covers a stylistic range from the Baroque to the present day - and not without tango, of course. Above all, arrangements of classical tangos and Marcelo Nisinman's own compositions will be heard, with the musician from Buenos Aires bringing together different musical styles and artistic elements and occasionally breaking with tango tradition in a provocative way. Nisinman's music inspires listeners worldwide and creates new perspectives on the tango.

Marcelo Nisinman, bandoneon
