Funny stories, melancholy songs and the lively and joyful music of klezmer. A concert full of joie de vivre.
The clarinettist Robert Dietrich and the musician and actor Moise Schmidt are the duo "Chotsch" from Freiburg.
It all started with a love of klezmer music. This is the name of the music of the Jews of Eastern Europe, mainly dances full of energy and joie de vivre, which was traditionally played at festivals.
Chotsch combines this music with modern musical elements in a very experimental way. In this way, they give klezmer their own musical signature without taking away its soul.
When they play and sing together, the lively klezmer dances and the cheerfulness and melancholy of the Yiddish songs can be heard and felt at all times.
Moise Schmidt is also an actor and storyteller. The audience experiences him in a free, very lively, almost clownish recital of short stories. The art of storytelling and music complement each other perfectly. The best entertainment for heart and mind.
