This group exhibition is based on the premise that waste is not merely a byproduct of capitalism, but a driving force. The works shown transform discarded objects into artistic materials, borrowing from the appealing aesthetic of consumer goods to expose how those products lure us in. Rather than idealizing nature or demonizing waste, the pieces focus on the central question of desire, the impetus behind the capitalist system.

Solo presentation

Privat homes and façade reliefs on savings banks provide the starting point for Karla Zipfel’s exploration of surfaces in public space that symbolize society’s yearning for prosperity and values such as hard work, thrift and social security.

What remains of the figure of the small saver who sought advice in village bank branches when they close their doors? And what happens when the Federal Republic's promise of social advancement is dismantled in ‘recession core’ memes on social media?
