The "Viola Days" will take place for the first time in 2025 from October 15 to 19. They were initiated by Diemut Poppen, Professor of Viola at the College of Music Freiburg, and offer advanced students and young professionals a wide range of musical and technical training opportunities.
Participation is free of charge for students of the College of Music Freiburg as well as for external students.
Courses offered
The aim is to expand one's own boundaries and to become individually aware in various existential areas:
- Effective practicing - a practicing prize of €1,000 will be awarded, the "Practise Prize Poppen-Baer"
- Awareness of mental and physical tensions, stage fright. Solutions are offered in special workshops.
- Posture. Workshops and individual lessons for a long-term healthy posture (the viola is the biggest instrument to hold up).
- Technique. Technique workshops for left and right hand.
- Interpretation. Master classes.
- Audition preparation. Individual lessons with auditions.
- Fictitious auditions. Participants gain important experience both behind the curtain and in the jury.
- Viola d'Amore. Taster course.
- Contemporary music. New works for viola are presented.
- Clark. Seminar on Rebecca Clark.
- Chamber music and viola ensemble.
- Performance opportunities. Internal and public concerts.
- New violas and bows. Violin maker on site at the university.
Welcome to the "Viola Days" in beautiful Freiburg im Breisgau!
