Lecture: End of the war in Freiburg, Germany and Europe 1944/45

Lecture: End of the war in Freiburg, Germany and Europe 1944/45

In the final months of the war, Freiburg, like many cities in Germany and Europe, experienced an escalation of violence. The historian Ulrich Herbert looks at various locations and events that shaped not only individual memories and images of history, but also the European and universal experience of war. The lecture is part of a series of events taking place on the occasion of the performance of War Requiem. The series of events is a cooperation between the Documentation Center for National Socialism, the Freiburg Bach Choir, the Studium Generale of the Albert-Ludwigs-University campus Freiburg and the College of Music Freiburg. The lecture will take place at the College of Music Freiburg, Main Building, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Platz 1, Chamber Music Hall. Participation is free of charge. Registration is required by Sunday, October 13, at mh-freiburg.de/veranstaltungen/kriegsende.
