How anti-Semitic is the Bible? A critical view
"How anti-Semitic is the Bible?" asks Aachen theologian Simone Paganini in his lecture on Tuesday, November 11 at 7 p.m. at the Archbishop's Seminary Collegium Borromaeum, Schoferstraße 1, in Freiburg. The lecture and subsequent discussion will also be broadcast online.
Anti-Semitism is not a phenomenon of modern times - but is it also found in the texts of the Bible? Paganini examines the portrayal of Judaism in the New Testament and asks to what extent Christian theology has shaped anti-Semitic narratives over the centuries.
The lecture offers a critical reading of biblical texts and sheds light on the tensions between theology, history and social responsibility.
An event organized by the Catholic Academy Freiburg in cooperation with the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Freiburg e. V.
Admission is free. Registration at: www.katholische-akademie-freiburg.de
