What happened to the Reclam booklet

There is a story behind every sheet of paper used. It may be everyday or unusual: be it a recipe, a calendar page, a used and annotated Reclam notebook, a letter or a scribble: all these papers tell a story. The course format "What happened to the Reclam notebook" encourages the use and redesign of such sheets: The graphic-painterly quality of used papers offers a multifaceted basis for further processing, also under the aspect of upcycling art. The pages of the Reclam exercise book become dramatic miniature figures, the calendar page of past years becomes a wind bride with a fluttering cloak, old exercise books are turned into a book with inserts and cut-outs in which the texts are combined in a new way. By tearing, folding, gluing, cutting out and collage-like grouping, the materials and contents are put together in new contexts.

Course leader: Gädeke, Sibylle. Sibylle Gädeke works as a stage and costume designer in operas and theaters in German-speaking countries. In her studio she designs and builds three-dimensional objects and figures out of paper.
