It’s a guarantee of a fresh zest for life, vitality, and sensual delight: the “Vienna Johann Strauss Concert Gala.” Since 1996, this Austrian export hit—the original featuring Kendlinger’s K&K Philharmonic—has captivated more than 1.5 million music lovers in 19 European countries—a musical fountain of youth that even kings and emperors would truly enjoy —cult status included!

In 1996, Matthias Georg Kendlinger launched this tour—one of the most successful in music history, with well over a million attendees to date—as the founder of the K&K Philharmonic, the K&K Ballet, and the K&K Opera Chorus. Together with his ensembles, he receives bravos and standing ovations, including at concert halls in Madrid, Zurich, Oslo, Paris, Berlin, and the Vienna Musikverein. Kendlinger revamps the program annually, oversees rehearsals, and can often be seen conducting. His son Max Kendlinger, Taras Lenko, and Ihor Muravyov take turns conducting.

In select cities, Kendlinger’s K&K Ballet can also be seen—co-founded by the unforgettable Viennese choreographer Gerlinde Dill, who, among other things, choreographed the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert for over two decades. From 2009 to 2020, Viktor Litvinov, former ballet master of the Kiev State Opera, followed in her footsteps. The ballet master for this year’s tour will once again be dancer and choreographer Marianna Stankevych.

In addition to the unmistakable evergreens of the Strauss dynasty, the program traditionally features a wide variety of rarities. Refreshing humor is also a hallmark of this concert series. Of course, audiences can also look forward to the Blue Danube Waltz and the obligatory encore, the Radetzky March.
