A family in Ecuador looks back proudly on their German ancestor, the naturalist Theodor Wolf - born in Batholomä in 1841. 100 years after his death, it comes to light that Wolf never mentioned his children in Ecuador in Germany. The blank spot in the family history raises questions and shatters the identity of the descendants. Wolf's great-great-grandson, filmmaker Darío Aguirre, sets off in search of clues. What appears to begin as an homage develops into an examination of colonial heritage and memory. Between Germany and Ecuador, a new image of the family idol gradually emerges - and in its shadow, that of an indigenous great-great-grandmother about whom silence still prevails today. A touching family saga about pride, forgetting and the stories that make us who we think we are.

Una familia de Ecuador mira con orgullo a su antepasado alemán, el explorador naturalista Theodor Wolf. Cien años después de su muerte, sale a la luz que Wolf nunca mencionó a sus hijos de Ecuador en Alemania. Este vacío en la historia familiar plantea preguntas y sacude la identidad de sus descendientes. El bisnieto de Wolf, el cineasta Darío Aguirre, se lanza a la búsqueda de pistas. Lo que aparentemente comienza como un homenaje se convierte en una reflexión sobre la herencia colonial y la memoria. Entre Alemania y Ecuador surge poco a poco una nueva imagen del ídolo familiar y, a su sombra, la de una tatarabuela indígena sobre la que se ha guardado silencio hasta hoy. Una conmovedora saga familiar sobre el orgullo, el olvido y las historias que nos convierten en lo que pensamos que somos.
