Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy

Once again it's time: Clear the stage for school theater! In July, the SCHOOL THEATRE DAYS take place, during which theater groups from grades 5 to 13 try out, network, talk about theater - and of course perform theater. What are the groups from schools in Freiburg and the surrounding area working on? You can find out on two evenings with two different plays in the Kleines Haus. On Wed, 10.07.2024, the Theater-AG of St. Ursula Gymnasium will present the play YVONNE by Witold Gombrowicz. This is how the Theater-AG describes their play: Suddenly, a person appears at the royal court - Yvonne. Prince Philipp, heir to the throne, who is bored with his life, sees her as a change from his parents and courtly etiquette. Although he cannot stand Yonne from the very first moment - she does not speak, appears impassive and weak - he becomes engaged to her. Yvonne becomes part of the royal court and things take their course. She provokes uncomfortable questions: How are we perceived? What do we trigger in others? What do we hide? How do we want to be seen? The court senses a danger emanating from this embarrassing and strange person - and after a short time, everyone agrees: Yvonne has to go!
