Zen Buddhism and Meister Eckhart. Two paths, one goal?

The teachings of the Buddha, their manifestation in Chan and Zen Buddhism and the teachings of Christian mysticism of Master Eckhart are paths to mindfulness and serenity. Are these paths contradictory, different or complementary?
