Telling stories together - multilingual intercultural storytelling café with Selen Schaper from Freiburg (from Turkey)
Thursday, 07/05/2026 / 07:00 PM - 09:00 PM / House of the youth
Free entry
From now on, the stage belongs to the people of Freiburg: Do you want to tell your story but don't have the confidence to do so? We will coach you and work with you to tell your story.
Selen Schaper came to Germany as an oboist and stayed.
"Your hands can fix a lot of things," said Selen Schaper's father. The photographer and fisherman loved his daughter and taught her many things, but there was one thing she never got: a hug, not even from her mother. Selen tells family stories from Turkey and Germany, full of tears and laughter and happy endings.
In our storytelling café, the stage belongs to the stories from our lives - yours, mine, ours. Do you have something to tell yourself, but don't know how? We'll help you - with time, attention and an open ear. Selen tells - and so do you! In small, protected discussion groups, we listen to each other, share our experiences and discover what connects us. The evening will be moderated and accompanied by Kathinka Marcks and Ami Kal from Nomadische Erzählkunst e.V.
"zusammen erzählen" takes place four times a year and is a cooperation between Nomadische Erzählkunst e. V. and zusammen leben e. V. sponsored by the Freiburg Cultural Office, Bread for the World and the Catholic Fund.
