Archäologische Sammlung der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg

The Archaeological Collection of the Albert-Ludwigs-University campus Freiburg presents an impressive variety of ancient objects in museum-like rooms. Over 3,000 originals from Greek-Etruscan and Roman antiquity (2 millennia BC to 5th century AD) complement around 800 masterful plaster casts of famous sculptures such as Apollo of the Belvedere, Venus de Milo and Laocoon. Highlights include the portrait gallery of classical philosophers and Roman emperors as well as impressive architectural fragments from the temple complex of Baalbek. The collection functions as a central teaching and study collection with regularly changing exhibitions, guided tours and events.
