Children's Office Freiburg

In projects, we work together with children to implement their ideas for a child-friendly urban (sub)design. Our goal is always to address the interests and needs of young people and to provide them with opportunities for co-determination and co-design so that they can experience self-determination and social participation. In the Children's Office, children can contribute their suggestions for improving the living conditions in their immediate environment and thus participate in Freiburg's urban planning. To this end, we organize various participation formats for children in the areas of playground planning, green and open space planning, and urban district planning. Our task is to bring children's concerns to the attention of the administration and politicians and to represent them at the local political level.

In addition, we organize events that focus on children's rights. For this purpose, the World Children's Day takes place once a year at the Seepark area, a free family event with 3000 to 6000 visitors annually. Together with 50 cooperation partners, we raise awareness for children's rights and create an opportunity for low-threshold information on topics relevant to children. In addition, we organize activities for World Play Day, playground sponsorships, temporary play streets and workshops on children's rights, such as the workshop for children's rights reporters.
