Schlucker und Spucker

Franz Gutmann's sculpture "Schlucker und Spucker" (Swallower and Spitter) is located under the tram bridge in Stühlinger Kirchpark. Two giant figures are connected by a Freiburg gutters - a playful work of art that invites viewers to look through the eyeholes of the "spitter".

In 1982, the sculptor Franz Gutmann created this extraordinary work as part of the redesign of Stühlinger church square. The "Spucker" feeds the stream that flows into the mouth of the "Schluckers". With the dedication "Gutmann makes, Humbert laughs", he wanted to make the people of Freiburg smile.
