Uniseum (University Museum)
The Uniseum (university museum) is more than just a museum: with lively presentations, original works of art and stagings from different eras, student life in Freiburg is brought back to life.
The rooms of the old University, which functioned as the central administrative office of the "Albertina" for almost 150 years, are still used by the university's research institutes today. On the first floor is the Uniseum (university museum) - a museum and forum in one. The university brings history and the present together here, as it is not only the 550-year history of the Albert Ludwig University that is illustrated. The Uniseum (university museum) is also a meeting place for students and teaching staff for lectures or seminars and serves as a venue for celebrations.
The exhibition focuses on the university's research work and teaching from its foundation in 1457 to the present day. Did you know, for example, that women were only admitted to university in 1900 and that 10 Nobel Prize winners studied and taught at the "Albertina"?
