2nd symphony concert

A warm welcome! In the 2nd symphony concert, we celebrate a musical get-together with the new 1st conductor. In addition, the Philharmonic Orchestra Freiburg will take us on a bold journey in a sonorous debut. Because when the fog hangs in the Höllental valley, we are drawn into the vastness - even if we might be standing in the fog again. The journey begins with a concerto for oboe by Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů, whose lightness of expression and imaginative melodies transport us to a tender idyll and lively dances. Martinů's unusual orchestration of strings, brass and piano is particularly exciting - a surprisingly fresh world of sound that is well worth discovering. And then off to the Highlands: Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Symphony No. 3, known as the "Scottish Symphony", takes us on a musically furious trip through Scotland's picturesque landscapes. Inspired by his journey to the green highlands, Mendelssohn composed an atmospherically dense work in which you can hear the echo of Scottish folk melodies and literally feel the damp, dense fog on your skin. Bohuslav Martinů (1890 - 1959): Concerto for oboe and small orchestra Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809 - 1847): Symphony No. 3 "Scottish"
