3rd symphony concert

For her first collaboration with the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the young Italian-Turkish conductor Nil Venditti has packed a sparkling program for the 3rd symphony concert: Paris! The center of culture and elegance. It has always been like that. Even when the 22-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart traveled to Paris for the first time in 1778. He was enraptured. So he immediately composed a symphony, his 31st, the "Paris Symphony". Here, everything glitters and sparkles with joie de vivre. Paris again. 150 years later. American jazz conquers the French metropolis and the composer Maurice Ravel is thrilled. In his wonderfully colorful Piano Concerto in G major from 1932, this fascination cannot be ignored. On September 4, 2022, Nil Venditti conducted the world premiere of the 5th Symphony by Turkish star pianist and composer Fazil Say. Say's music is dedicated to current events: Corona pandemic, the Russian war against Ukraine through to the bloody pogroms in Turkey in 1955. But despite the serious themes, Fazil Say gives his work a confident tone at the end and dedicates it to "those who love life and know how to live". Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791): Symphony No. 31 "Paris Symphony" Maurice Ravel (1875 - 1937): Piano Concerto in G major Fazil Say (*1970): Symphony No. 5
