Freiburger Barockorchester
Éva Borhi, violin & conductor

The Dutch mezzo-soprano Olivia Vermeulen is one of the most versatile artists of her time, far beyond historically informed performance practice. She is a familiar face to our audiences as a regular soloist in concerts with René Jacobs. In 2024, she sang La Musica in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo with dignity and color, and a few months ago she lent dramatic depth to the role of Idamante in Mozart's Idomeneo. Both times she was frenetically acclaimed by audiences in Freiburg and Berlin.

Her album "Dirty Minds", which brings together songs by Kurt Weill, Alban Berg, Hugo Wolf and others, also recently caused a sensation in the press.

All of this is reason enough for the FBO to present the New Year's Eve Concert 2025 with Olivia Vermeulen. The mezzo-soprano will be able to impressively demonstrate her stylistic range with a colorful, cross-epochal program ranging from George Frideric Handel to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the 20th century, while the FBO will show its modern side.
