Scholars, writers, psychologists and pedagogues have already examined the relationship between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his father Leopold in detail many times. However, the fact that Wolferl himself had two sons is often overlooked: Carl Thomas and Franz Xaver. The latter was born in the year of his father's death and also decided to pursue a career as a musician. As a pupil of Antonio Salieri and Johann Nepomuk Hummel, he soon became a respected pianist who gave concerts throughout Europe and also published his own compositions, including two piano concertos and a series of art songs.
The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra dedicates itself to the musical relationship between Wolfgang Amadeus and Franz Xaver Mozart - how could it be otherwise - together with Christoph and Julian Prégardien. The two singers are not only regarded as outstanding Mozart interpreters, but also as a well-rehearsed father-and-son duo. Kristian Bezuidenhout joins them as soloist, so that we can expect an exciting, entertaining and excellently performed concert evening.
