Book ticketsThe making of great nature film productions: Challenges, technology and patience - real life behind the scenes
Exclusive seminar with nature filmmaker Florian Schulz at the MUNDOLOGIA festival
How are the spectacular animal and landscape shots that we know from award-winning nature documentaries created? How do you film grizzlies at eye level or giant whales and rays on the open ocean - and on behalf of the BBC, Netflix or Apple TV? In this exclusive seminar, Florian Schulz gives an insight into the stories behind the images - from the first step to the final scene.
In this seminar, international award-winning nature filmmaker and photographer Florian Schulz presents his extreme wilderness work and explains what it takes to turn the magic of nature into film. Experience impressive image and film scenes from productions such as Planet Earth, Blue Planet, Mammals, Our Living World, Frozen Planet, The Arctic (IMAX) and the corresponding stories and adventures behind the camera.
Guests will experience first-hand the making of such major film projects - from the development of ideas and logistics to weeks of filming in remote wilderness areas. Schulz reports on his work under extreme conditions - whether in a tent among polar bears, on a sailing boat along the North American coast or in a bush plane over the Arctic tundra.
He explains the camera and recording techniques he uses, how aerial shots are taken from helicopters, the challenges of long expeditions - and how countless hours of raw material are ultimately turned into an emotional story.
A captivating look behind the scenes of nature filming - exciting for nature enthusiasts, photographers, film fans and anyone who wants to find out what it means to be out in the wilderness with a camera, perseverance and passion.
